yumi was standing at the doorstep of a fancy mansion. she was slightly nervous for she was not quite used to being in such posh places, but it was her aunt's so that diffused the tension a little bit.

the door opened and a butler ushered yumi into a grand marble hall, bathed in warm golden light that streamed from magnificent chandeliers. yumi stood still, awe-struck. the house was even more luxurious than she remembered.

'yumi, is that you? is that my favourite niece?' yumi heard a clear and cheerful voice of her aunt.

yumi turned her head to see her aunt running down the central staircase right to her.

'there she is!' her aunt almost screamed as she clasped yumi in a tight embrace.

    'hello, auntie,' yumi breathed out.

the embrace loosened and the aunt, smiling broadly, looked at yumi with her sparkling eyes.

'look at you, all grown up and so pretty.'

'thank you,' yumi replied, flattered. 'you are gorgeous as always.'

'oh, so sweet of you to say that.'

but yumi was not just sweet, although she did love her aunt. it was simply a fact - yumi's aunt did look gorgeous, especially when she dressed up, just like now, and wore her best jewellery. it looked great on such iss enchanter as she was.

'let's go upstairs and join the crowd. i'm so happy you made it to my birthday!'

purpose: test the success rate of the giant root and mass giant root skills depending on various jewelry items and buffs.

characters: lvl 99 dwarf and orc, no equipment, no buffs.

    giant root

    • test 1

in this test i’d like to reveal the base success rate of giant root without using any items that might increase or decrease the skill’s success rate.

    both characters are unequipped.

the dwarf used the giant root skill (lvl 4) against the orc 500 times.
404 attempts out of 500 were successful, that is, the success rate was about 81%. the skill duration is from 13 to 15 seconds.

conclusion: the base rate is rather high.

    • test 2

the dwarf was equipped with the following jewelry:

    {tbody}{tr}{tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tbody}
    top-grade resistance earring - holdoctavis’ earringbaium’s ring queen ant’s ring[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]
the jewelry gave a cumulative bonus of 110% to hold attack.

    the orc had no equip.

the dwarf used the giant root skill against the orc 500 times. out of 500 attempts, 452 were successful. the success rate is about 90%. the skill duration was 15 seconds.

conclusion: in this test the skill was supposed to have a 100% success rate, however, there were failed attempts, which means there is a 90% cap on debuff success rate.

    • test 3

the dwarven character had no equip.

the orc was equipped with the following items: top-grade resistance earring hold, octavis’ earring, baium’s ring and queen ant’s ring. in total, the jewelry increased resistance to hold by 110%.

the dwarf used the giant root skill against the orc 500 times. out of 500 attempts, 48 were successful. that is, the success rate was about 10%. the skill duration was 5 seconds.

conclusion: the orc had a 110% resistance to hold, which means he was supposed to be immune to hold attacks. however, the test revealed that there is a minimum debuff land rate of 10%. no matter how much resistance to hold one has, there is still a 10% chance that the hold attack will be successful. epic jewelry does not only increase resistance to hold, but also reduces the skill duration. the more resistance to hold a character has, the less the debuff will last.

    • test 4

in this test the orc was wearing zaken’s earring and antharas’ earring instead of top-grade resistance earring - hold and octavis’ earring. this was done in order to check if skills that inflict hold on the target can be defined as mental attack.

    {tbody}{tr}{/tr}{/tbody}
    [IMG][IMG]
the dwarven character had no equip.

the orc was equipped with baium’s ring, queen ant’s ring, zaken’s earring and аntharas’ earring.

the jewelry increased resistance to stun/mental attack by 50%.

the dwarf used the giant root skill against the orc 500 times. 201 attempts out of 500 were successful. that is, the success rate was about 40%. the skill duration was 6-7 seconds.

conclusion: when top-grade resistance earring - hold and octavis’ earring were substituted by zaken’s earring and antharas’ earring, the giant root land rate fell to 40%. thus we can assume that giant root is not a mental attack.

    • test 5

in this test zaken’s earring was worn by the orc instead of top-grade resistance earring - hold.

    the dwarf had no equip.

the orc was equipped with the following jewelry: baium’s ring, queen ant’s ring, zaken’s earring and octavis’ earring.

cumulative resistance to hold attacks was 90%.

the dwarf used the giant root skill against the orc 500 times. out of 500 attempts, 52 were successful. the land rate for giant root was about 10%. the skill duration was 5-6 seconds.

conclusion: when top-grade resistance earring - hold was substituted for zaken’s earring, the land rate for giant root was 10% and hit the minimum cap for debuffs. the test also makes it clear that for maximum resistance, it is enough to have baium’s ring, queen ant’s ring and octavis’ earring, unless the attacker is equipped with jewelry that increases the land rate of hold, naturally. if the target also equips top-grade resistance earring - hold, this will not decrease success rate for hold, but it will make it possible to increase resistance to hold if the attacker has jewelry increasing hold land rate.

    • test 6

    the dwarf had no equip.

the orc was equipped with baium’s ring and queen ant’s ring. with the jewelry, his resistance to hold was 50%.

the dwarf attacked the orc with giant root 500 times. out of 500 attempts, 187 were successful. the skill land rate was approximately 38%. the skill duration was 6-7 seconds.

conclusion: even if only two rings are used, the hold chance is not very high. the land rate we received in these test conditions is comparable to that of test 4, when baium’s ring, queen ant’s ring, zaken’s earring and аntharas’ earring were equipped by the target. this proves once again that giant root is not a mental attack.

    • test 7

    the dwarf had no equip.

the orc was equipped with top-grade resistance earring - hold and octavis’ earring. his resistance to hold with the jewelry was 60%.

the dwarf used the giant root skill against the orc 500 times. out of 500 attempts, 134 were successful. the skill land rate is 31%. the skill duration is 5-6 seconds.

conclusion: when two earrings are used, the land rate of hold is even lower than with two rings.

    • test 8

the dwarf was equipped with top-grade resistance earring - hold, octavis’ earring, baium’s ring and queen ant’s ring. with all this jewelry equipped, the hold attack bonus was 110%.

the orc was equipped with top-grade resistance earring - hold, octavis’ earring, baium’s ring and queen ant’s ring. with the jewelry, his hold resistance was 110%.

the dwarf used the giant root skill against the orc 500 times. out of 500 attempts, 389 were successful. the skill land rate was about 78%. the skill duration was 15 seconds.

conclusion: when both characters were wearing identical jewelry, the land rate was practically the same as that for characters without any jewelry.

    • test 9

in this test i checked if giant root depends on m. atk.

the dwarf was equipped with blessed amaranthine retributer [IMG]

his m. atk. was 127 without the retributer and 8027 with the retributer.
the orc was equipped with top-grade resistance earring - hold, octavis’ earring, baium’s ring and queen ant’s ring. his resistance to hold with the jewelry was 110%.

the dwarf used the giant root skill 500 times against the orc. out of 500 attempts, 50 were successful. the skill land rate was 10%. the skill duration was 5 seconds.

conclusion: m.atk does not influence the success rate of giant root

here is a table which combines the results of all the 9 tests:

    {tbody}{tr}{tr}{tr}{tr}{tr}{tr}{tr}{tr}{tr}{tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tbody}
    test #dwarf’s equipmentorc’s equipmentcumulative bonus to hold atk.,%cumulative resistance to hold, %root land rate, %root duration, seconds1    8113-152[IMG][IMG] [IMG] [IMG] 110 90153 [IMG][IMG] [IMG] [IMG] 1101054 [IMG] [IMG][IMG] [IMG] 50406-75 [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] 90105-66 [IMG][IMG] 50386-77 [IMG][IMG] 60316-78[IMG][IMG] [IMG] [IMG][IMG][IMG] [IMG] [IMG]  78159[IMG][IMG][IMG] [IMG] [IMG] 110105
conclusion: the series of tests has revealed that jewelry that gives bonuses/resistance to hold influences the success rate of giant root. the jewelry used in the tests is available on the market, so it is quite easy to increase one’s hold attack or resistance to hold.

    mass giant root

for mass giant root, the tests were the same as for giant root. the results are presented in the table:

    {tbody}{tr}{tr}{tr}{tr}{tr}{tr}{tr}{tr}{tr}{tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tbody}
    test #dwarf’s equipmentorc’s equipmentcumulative bonus to hold atk.,%cumulative resistance to hold, %root land rate, %root duration, seconds1    8013-152[IMG][IMG] [IMG] [IMG] 110 90153 [IMG][IMG] [IMG] [IMG] 1101054 [IMG] [IMG][IMG] [IMG] 50416-75 [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] 90105-66 [IMG][IMG] 50396-77 [IMG][IMG] 60296-78[IMG][IMG] [IMG] [IMG][IMG][IMG] [IMG] [IMG]  79159[IMG][IMG][IMG] [IMG] [IMG] 110105

conclusion: judging by the results of tests for mass giant root, we can assume that the success rates for giant root and mass giant root are the same provided the same equip is used.

wow pretty nice test, specially part with m atack (i thought higher m atack increasing chance). even you provided root is not mental atack you forgot about 1 important thing: mental protection buff. you tested almost everything but totally skipped this buff. acording to buff description:

    mental protection

    buff skill
increases resistances to hold, sleep and mental by 50, buff-canceling by 30, and debuff attacks by 20 for 30 minutes.

would be nice to check full jew vs someone full jew with this mental protection buff which is rather common for every party with iss or healer in party.

thank you for the tests but i still have some doubts.

    1) did both dwarf and orc have fighter stats (meaning almost the same)?
    2) land rate is not affected by matk as expected, this was mentioned in goddes of destruction patch notes (the land rates were moved from int/matk to wit and other stats).
but what about magical accuracy (wit), magical evasion (wit) and resistance to physical/magical abnormal state (con/men)???
in my personal short tests i noticed that the sub skills that increase magical accuracy/evasion had some influence on the land rate, but maybe i'm wrong.
edit: there is actually a test on us boards that confirms that wit affects debuff land rate.

    3)
why do you assume that 110% resistance to hold means immunity?
110% resistance to hold doesn't mean that it has to be absolute 110% resistance, it could as well be an increase to some base resistance by 110%.
i.e. if base resistance was 40% then with 110% increase it would be be 84%.

if it was an absolute resistance then increase of +10% in resistance would always give 10% absolute difference in resists.
in the results, increase from 50% resistance to 60% resistance indeed does give around 10% difference (40% - 31%), but increase from 0% to 50% gives only 40% (80% - 40%), so it's not that simple.

also, there is a small drop (around 3%) in land rate when both chars are fully equipped.
this could mean that some of the base stats affect the land rate (wit, men) but it's hard to see clearly because the difference in stats between orc and dwarf fighters is very low (+/- 1 point).
it would be good to test land rate the dwarf fighter has against i.e. an orc mystic which does have alot better wit and men.
this could show that iss has the crappiest debuff land rate of all classes (on magic skills only ofc, physical debuffs are different) :p

this test didnt take into consideration the iss buffs since everyone has them, that give 50 hold resistance.
and they didnt take into consideration hold resistance passive from clan that gives you 20 hold resistance and every decent clan has it.

so this test is great for open oly since you dont have hold resistances on most characters and clan skills dont work, but for open pvp this test is not sutable, because as you can see in this test, enemy having athleast abit of resistance to hold can mean a huge -% in succes rate of landing it on him.

so if it turns out that iss buffs and clan skills have huge impact on landing rate it just proves how root is useless in pvp.
cause ok i will do a short test without any jews on any char, just clan skills and iss reisistance.
but as far i know landing rate is **** cause it never lands in pvp.

please submit extra requests to the requests thread as they will get overlooked here.

deepblue start thinking about some things in different way than only looking with some kind of scheme everytime.

i did not only ask for extra test but also explained in details why it should be done to also inform new players reading this topic that some very important stuff was missed furing this test. i am sure both yumi and tully reading their topics and comments and if they play a bit this update they know what mistake was done in this update. there sometimes no logic to put it as new request instead of just little "up" topic when only 1 little (but important!) test was missed.

so yumi, could you answer if you can update your test with iss enchanter buff? : )

that is a request and i have already explained that it doesnt matter if its a "new" test or a request for extra things to be tested that are related to another test already carried out, a request is a request and should be placed in the correct place to avoid it being overlooked.
