Regarding Frost and European law

i heard speculation that in september some sort of law is going to be passed and that programs such as frost will be considered illegal. if it is true will the servers shutdown? or will we be just another botfest?

if i am wrong i would really hope somebody that knows more about this matter could inform me about how frost works and why it is illegal to use in the united states but not in europe.

i hope it does not happen, if they lose frost then core will turn into another ncwest botfest server and i will lose all interest in playing here.

if i lose lineage 2 eu i lose l2 forever because i won't go back to ncwest nor will i ever play on private servers.

 

his comment is relevant to the topic, he is asking you if you have a substantial link to this speculation or wether it is indeed just word of mouth and propganda that you have heard from someone else, try being more polite to people who are responding to your questions/statements.

false propaganda like that is spread by people who only want to try and discredit innova in their attempt to use a working anti-cheat system. i have never had any problems while using frost and nobody yet has any solid proof that frost steals credit card information or anything like that.

until somebody shows actual facts then anything they say is purely speculation and only done to put innova down.

 

the whole point of the topic is that i am looking for a substantial link or something more official. since when is spreading propaganda the same as looking for some knowledge regarding privacy protection laws in europe and how exactly frost works. nobody is slandering innova and nobody is slandering frost security in this thread.

as piotress said nobody is believing anything if they dont see a reliable source. a source that could prove the speculation to be true or just as easily prove that it isn't.

laws regarding the internet aren't fully established, did everybody forget about sopa from 2 years ago? every day new stuff are coming into the light and new actions are being taken. i do not find the idea of a law that forbids companies to scan their customers computers and send back information to be that ludicrous.

to be honest, i am not saying that innova is stealing information from us, it is just checking for 3rd party software regarding lineage 2, but it is common sense that politicians wont understand the difference to make an exception for the gaming industry etc. so if the law passes, our antibot system will be regarded as illegal.

i find the whole story farfetched, but these kind of things happen every day.

 

yet none knows what parts of your pc are actually being checked and how they are checked and so on. thats what i meant. none of you knows how frost works yet claim that it is or might not be legal.

 

nobody accuses frost of illegal activity, but if a law is legislated that generally bans programs that have such a behaviour, then frost is going to get the short end of the stick.

 

to be honest i dont know why anyone would keep anything that is a security risk stored on their computer seeing as they have more chance of being hacked, keylogged or whatever other actual ilegal nonsense goes around in cyberspace due to virus's and dodgey sites that alot of people for some strange reason just cant help themselves but to click the links for. as for frost - it does not scan your entire pc its a security system with one job as its purpose, its certainly not going to go through all your pictures and check if you have naked pictures of your partner pressing your pincode to the local atm machine for example lol

not passing the road from a crossing is also illegal, or not picking up your dogs poop. just because something is illegal doesnt mean it is bad. do i really have to explain to you all of the faults that the penal system has in europe?

 

if they will ban frost they will also ban antiviruses that have real time protection? the mechanism with which they act is analogous ( if someone has better info on how frost works, please do share).

i will list other programs that also run at same time as your application to try and detect cheating: punkbuster, gameguard, hackshield, vac, warden.
until i see some link to news piece about the european parliament passing or even considering such a law, i will remain skeptical of the existence of such law.

i will let you guess who started the 'scanning bull****', hint: they are people that directly don't want people to come here.
