so there is a bug with this game i found on notebooks. when u minimize the game and close laptop (so its still running but with case closed) then u open it after few minutes, game crashes windows. there is some error (bluescreen) called "handle exceptions thread..." something...

    after error computer restarts.
it happens everytime on 2 different notebooks with 2 different os's (windows 7 and windows 8), so i'm pretty sure its a game bug.

i dont know if its a rule but after error on computer with windows 7 system page file corrupts so i have to remake it everytime it happens or it will randomly freeze after...

i guess you will need more details from bluescreen message but i'm not really up to forcing errors on my hardware :s

nearly every laptop/notebook system is set to go into sleep or to shutdown when the lid is closed to prevent overheating.
if you have a fast computer it may be barely noticeable that system goes to sleep and resumes, especially if you haven't set up "prompt for password on resume".

so the most probable scenario is that your system goes to sleep and when it resumes the l2.exe can't wake up with it.
i'm speaking from experience, had bluescreens when accidentally put my laptop to sleep while playing l2 on win7 x64.

no, thats not it. i have disabled sleep mode and hibernation on both computers. also when laptop is closed with l2 running on it, i can see char logged on 2nd computer. so it works fine until i open case...

and if you do such with some other game, will there be bsod or not? i am just thinking that it's not l2 bug at all...

    yea why not?
i look at this like turning off screen... why should i lose more energy for example, when my char is on privatestore mode.

its just closing laptop, not turning it to sleep or something similar.
btw lineage handles sleep mode (except network disconnect :p)

when l2 stops responding to the system it cannot communicate with the server via the system. in such case it lasts in game for 2 mins more, on average, it is not a ty****l disconnection.

you might have disabled the sleep and hibernation, alright, but apparently something else related to power saving is triggered in your system when you close the lid. alternatively your bios does that, not your system, check it out.

fyi, any laptop in idle state consumes very little of energy and if you enable what used to be called "decrease background performance" in the lineage options the game is going to perform at 1 fps in the taskbar, you're not going to "feel" that on your electricity bill.

a laptop has to keep running, obviously, in order to keep any application running in real time, you can only unplug every unnecessary device from it and turn its screen off, you can set "dim" and "off" settings for the screen appropriately and stop worrying.

it's alright :) try to lower your laptop lid leaving around 7cm to 10cm of space between top of the lid and the front of your laptop, the cat shouldn't be able to lift it and won't fit in likely. many laptops send "lid closed" signal to the system when the top of the lid is very, very close to the base of the laptop.
