Forced Name Change and E-MAIL address issue.

hi.

i will combine here two matters: the fact that one of my characters is being forced to change the name and the fact that the e-mail to which my actual game account is connected to has gone totally inactive some few years ago ( in other words i would not be able to change account e-mail if a confirmation letter was sent to the old one).

first things first: forced name change. i have been forced to change a name of one of my characters. the idea is absolutely disgusting for me. when i tried to log into that character the game claimed that there was a server merger and on that there was someone with the same name. i tried if my name was still there to be used but no. so they had written it like this > name_rn and i hate that underscore and two letters behind it. it would have made an ugly name with **** attached to it. my man has _aria on one of his characters and he can not get rid of it. i did not want to end up with same issue - i was forced to change the name.

my character had had that name ever since aria. i definitely dislike numbers, or things like i-name or what ever like that = **** connected to names. i do not think it is very smart or even funny call a character 'the supperman' or 'catwoman' or such. i mostly invent my in-game names completely my self or find inspiration from literacy or the culture history of my small country. there usually is no trouble about getting my names accepted cause i do not copy them. for me making the name is part of the fun, just like i could spend few hours creating the look of a toon if possible. well i am trying to say that i find my character names very personal. to given another example, i take pride to not to call myself 'neko' in a game that has no nekos - in fact i would not play such a game, or if i for some odd reason did i still would not use that word in a name. i love l2 because it is not too pastel colored and because it is original - it has history among games. but like said, now i am absolutely disgusted. so much so that now my character has a new name derived from the word 'revolt' which by definition means 'the cause to feel disgust' or 'the action to rebel'. that is the level of thought i put into the names of my characters. i do not like the new name, but i am disgusted - it is the purest truth.

i created my account for l2 on aria server - my wizard in question was made on that server and now that i have been away from playing the game for some months it has again merged some? what merger, what the hell? it is one of my earliest characters. in fact she in my highest lvl character and now she is no longer who she was. for me the change of name changes 'personality' of a character. i will never pay to change any names, they are made to be what they are. besides why would i feel like giving my money? i find it really not right that someone who has had their character name for ages is forced to compete with who is fastest to log in to get to keep it. (i haven't been online for some time - yes that is true - but it also is true that i have always returned to l2 even though it is getting bit too much repeating the same. specially when making new characters... lol we changed that starting to make rb instead the newbie quests.) my man has longer experience about lineage. he misses catacombs. i miss some older features too. it would not be ok to change this came into something too cute - like those worlds that are out of pastel-toned color palette. i really wish i did not have to dislike my character name. the problem with it is not what it sounds or looks like or what it says - but the fact that i know i was forced to it.



e-mail address issue: i have no idea what to do about this. i had to make new account here on forum, because i do not remember the old one, besides the e-mail connected to my actual l2 game account has been inactive for few years now. it simply stopped to be accessible and then also vanished from old web address. i think it stopped to exist.

so now if i was to try to change e-mail on my game account - i am scared it will want to send an e-mail to the old e-mail account to confirm the change. it is totally impossible, because my e-mail does not exist anymore - and there for it can not be re-activated. i do not want any delays about access to the game account due to this. no there is no phone number attached to it to verify it.

i am slightly amazed that i am able to access my game account, even though the e-mail has gone out of date. i did not forget to log into the e-mail - so it was not my fault it become out of my reach. it simply stopped to exist - and this happen long ago, we were still on aria server back then.

i would like to change the e-mail attached to my l2 account, but like said i could not confirm this action via the old e-mail. and i am very protective about letting my personal contact information to anyone - or into any games related account data. the whole point from beginning on wards has been to have external e-mail with absolutely no connection to me personally - so that if my account or the e-mail was to be hacked at some point - it would not hold any information anywhere inside it to me personally. i am careful due to the fact that i have had an another game account on a different game once pished. i am not willing to change this protective policy. the point of explaining this here is that i am bit worried that one day it will become impossible to access even the game account due to inaccessible e-mail. for now it has been almost a protective measure for it to not exist anymore - lol (yes i joke) - but i know that sometimes, for example to issue a ticket it would be useful also to have a working e-mail address attached to the game account.

so how in the world can i ever hope to gain more hold back to my own account?

is there any help for me about anything mentioned here? (i know i wrote long, so lets say it shortly, besides i want to highlight this: my l2 account is completely safe. there has not been anything strange about it. aside of the problem about my character name, the issue is about >>> how can i change the e-mail address linked to my game account, when the old e-mail (still on the l2 account) has factually stopped to exist at the realm of reality due to the provider stopping to provide.)

as you mentionet, without access to your old email account you wont be able to switch it,
in that case please post a support ticket to support team and explain your situation.

support team will ask you several questions to establish background information to make sure that you are the owner of this particular 4game account.

note: please be patient, support is still overflooded with petitions regarding server merge - it might take some time to get response.

you have absolutely no authority to jump to accuse me for the first thing. and do not try to slither out about your bad behavior like some teenager who knows they did wrong. accusation is an accusation even when disguised as an opinion - and what ever might be happening around the world gives you absolutely no right to go assume such things about any individual, no matter their situation. in this case your opinion is a truly empty one. so learn some manners or have your mom explain them to you bit less gently. to assume the worst publicly like this, when it is targeted at someone, it just is not proper behavior. you do not have any knowledge to back your opinion - so your voice ends right there. that is why you should be smart enough to know to hold your tongue, no matter your age. in some countries it is a crime to accuse with assumptions without proof. an assumption to which you have no proof voiced publicly becomes as such an accusation against a persons integrity, when it assumes wrong doing, which there for is factually slander.

for the record: i haven't done anything wrong. my e-mail account provider just stopped to provide and there is no way to recover that e-mail, because they no longer exist. plain and simple.


i am not entirely sure that the first comment there even deserves an answer, but unfortunately i am of the generation who still has some pride about her integrity. so here i go, this is for anyone who might suspect wrong doing:

1. i am 40 years old. a woman with grey in my hair. i have my income, which has nothing to do with games. right up front that should read that i do not need or want to sell some game account. (i have not sold or purchased one.)

2. the fact that i find it absolutely too expensive to buy a change of a toon's name - as a single transaction - should not translate to assumption that i need money so much as to try to sell my account. it means that i am old enough to evaluate what i pay about when it comes to my hobby to play games. maybe some people don't care about the name cause they can pay to change it - but news flash - when it is like you want from the start, you do not even need to consider buying one later. (generally speaking i have put my share of money into games >>> i have been gamer ever since the commodore 46 - and there exists a long line of computers and boxes of games somewhere in storage from all that time back. but i wont pay for something that was like it should be from the start, especially after i am forced to change it without any power to hold on to what i invented. instead i decided to make a statement with the forced change of the name - with out resulting to bad name design.)

3. i happen to have the time to play, so why the hell buy a ready game account.

4. yes i do find it annoying that the newbie quests are so so so linear and repeating the same, always when you make a new character. but it is absurd that i now have to defend me against assumption about wrong doing due to that.

5. i think if someone was actually selling or buying something like a game account - it would have to be one full of high levels. my account definitely is not full of awakens. i just played my wizard a lot cause i like that character specially so it is of a higher lvl. but my account is not stuffed with high lvl toons. i would not buy a developed account any more than sell mine - because reality check - when it can not develop anymore - it stops being fun. so i have even destroyed a toon or two to try others. (i have never even thought about selling it - or buying one for any game. i like the challenge, the grinding, i just wish they did not make things too linear.. in fact too easy. l2 has always been especially challenging to level in - which is why i suppose it has had the strength to hold peoples interest. which is why i wanted to return to it now.)

6. i do not play pvp on l2 - so i do not need some high stats to get to some clan that demands those.

7. i personally am just enough possessive to never give willingly anything i played for to some baboon for some bit of small coins. i earned it - i keep it. (i just am worried about being able to keep it, and have been for some bit - cause my e-mail attached to the game account has stopped to exist. i wanted to know if there was something i should know about how to go about it - something that i could not imagine - to get an e-mail that is active back to it. that for sure is no proof about attempts to sell or buy a game account.)

i want to make this absolutely clear: what i have just stated here means that it just is not my personality to do things against rules. in my case it would not even need to exist a rule to not to sell or buy a game account, because i think no one else would deserve to have my account.

yes definitely i am deeply upset about the forced change of my toon's name, because having taken to that name - i consider it my property. you all would feel upset seeing your toon name on someone else. and i actually saw it while playing an archer from the same account - there it was passing fast - i did not believe my eyes. i thought i read it wrong cause someone made something similar. then when i tried to log on the wizard... her name was gone. now i feel intruded and robbed. my creation, my leveling - my name. this is what simply rolled me over the edge to bother to connect to this forum at all, even though i know that matter can not be changed now. not for some small player with a free account only.. and maybe not even for premium.



so i wanted to make a really strong point about how unfair i feel it to have lost my original character name. i am sure most of you do not like it if and when that happen to you. for example: when you see a variation of your name, which clearly is a kind of a copy by someone with no imagination of their own. part of me hoped there could be something to do about that, even though i know it is highly unlikely.

the name issue felt so personal that it factually prompted me to even get this active in that forum. i feel like my toon has been robbed of identity.


note: if any of you wonder why i did not try to do something about the e-mail issue before >>> i think i did ask about it from someone before, long ago - when that e-mail vanished, so i had very good an idea that it would be slow and bothersome. games should be easy to deal with. i was hoping to get better understanding about the way it might be done and if at all possible, because knowing it might be hard does not mean knowing how exactly. i can get that it would be hard to take care about especially when they are busy. so now they really have a server merger ( which was bit hard for me to even believe not having seen more than one server on the list for a long time). well needing to be patient is why i do not look forward to waiting. i do not want to be in that state of waiting for their reply - which is why i have not tried to do anything about it yet. and now i do not look forward to being patient due to some mess about a server merger, it already made me upset. i know i will evetually have to do that ticket about this - but it does not sound a pleasing task. did not before and does not sound so now.


to provide any information directly from my own person to the l2 organization is no issue.
i just do not want to have to put personal contact information into anywhere on a game account. i hope it wont result to that. if that sounds confusing. by this i mean the game account information, which could be open to anyone who might be able to hack the account - yes open in that case - even if it usually was set to not public. did i not already say that i had one game account phised? you all should get that i am very happy that in that case there was no direct banking information linked to it or any personal e-mail at the e-mail the game was connected to. i explained that because i think so, try to live by my thoughts and i even simply told why i have come to think so. so it is not proof that i might want to do something wrong.

(what the hell is it that people think they can assume bad about others.... i find absolutely no legitimate reason to start sniffing about my original post like i was trying to do ****. no there is no answer what could possibly give right to treat me like that.)

thank you eska for answering, even though it just confirms, that they would want a lot of answers - and that it would result to >>>>>>>> waiting. to have to wait and use a lot of energy to waiting is an issue for me. i welcome grinding in a game but not when its about managing the game account.

 

name change request was assigned because of the merge. inactive characters with lower level and `younger` accounts have been forced to switch their name, it seems your character meet the criteria therefore game client have had to prompt you about name change.

we really apologize for the inconvenience caused by that matter.

please, you don't have to explain yourself for the other players

as far as i do understand fact about keeping your identity safe, please keep in mind that these informations about your name or any other 'secret' questions or 2nd email option are made only to keep your account more safe and to give you way and opportunity to react when something is going wrong and you feel not safe about your own 4game account.


please send support ticket and wait for game master to reply. i'm sure that our support team will do everything to help you solve issue you are facing.

 

i just wanted to offer my support on the name thing. i totally share this feeling and unfortunately we are the minority that gives more than a rat's *** about it. 6 years ago i wanted to start playing on bartz (ncwest) and i wasn't able to create my nickname and that was reason enough for me to not engage in that server. i was happy that i was able to create my nickname here on core because that is my first requirement to play. if core was ever merged into a server that forced me to have an _core on my nickname, it would be a turn-off for me enough to abandon the game. i also share this insight that you have about creating your own nickname and a virtual identity. the first time i "invented" nikara as my nickname was about 8 years ago and it took me half hour scrambling the keyboard until it came out. unfortunately, there are 3 or 4 other people in the world that has also came up with nikara as their nickname aswell.

i'd say i hope you can get your nickname back, but that means someone else losing it and if that person is as attached to his/her nickname as you and me are, there is simply no way both parts will leave this problem happy.

thanks for support. i highly suspect they would not do such a thing just about the name of a character. to give it back. i am collecting the information i suppose will be needed to change the e-mail address into active one. but its some what a pain - given that reality pushes in with tax forms, which just arrived to fill and the rest. i have to let it wait until all that paper work is done to get my brain back about this.
