if i try to modify the l2.exe in order to use more ram, frost gameguard doesn't let me launch the game.

it is very annoying since after xping more than 4hours anywhere the client becomes overloaded and i am lagging everywhere to the point where i need to restart the client.

i can see very clearly from task manager that lineage 2 is barely using more than 1gb of ram.

    my system:
    os: windows 7 64bit
ssd: ocz vertex 2 60gb (with latest firmware installed)
gpu: 2x asus eah5770 cu core @ crossfirex

program i'm using to modify l2.exe is cff explorer
    http://www.ntcore.com/exsuite.php

same program and method i used to make elder scrolls v: skyrim use more than 2gb ram.

it's task for ncsoft (game binary rebuild).
frost will not allow you to modify l2.exe

innova can modify exe themselves and release it as a fix via the launcher. this game should really have largeadressaware enabled.

''frost is a software protection service developed by innova in 2008 to ensure the safety of gaming applications and players.''

it looks like they do own it since they developed it.
i insist on this setting in order to greatly increase the quality of mass pvp at sieges and other events.

it's rules violation. this server is not a "pirate", so... waiting for nc decision.

this is not modifying game files, this is only modifying the way windows treats executable file. i seriously doubt that this violates any kind of "rules", and i doubt that players can't enable largeadressaware on nckorea game client, it's all because of frost, that being said there's no need for ncsofts intervention in this case, since they are not using frost.

by modifying original binary, yeah =) so it's game client modification from innova side, it's original nc license bypassing ;)
you don't understand me - modifications of this binary is a simple task for frost team. but it's not good for innova-nc relations, support and bug-tracking.

and your will never see ncsoft digital signature on l2.exe after modification by innova - so every av will be crying about themida-packed binary ;)

but the executable itself won't be changed, there will only be one "0" changed to "1" in the registry. that's all.

    md5 is changed
    ncsoft digital signature validation fails

and... many programs were cracked by 1 byte modification =) and characteristics field in file header is word (not in our case but... for example)

not in registry. in binary "file header". it's important.

ncsoft did it for aion (laa-option), so...

the easiest solution would be to add another checksum of exe with laa flag to frost and let players do it themselves. who cares if players brake eula in process, most of them didn't even read it.

in your case eula violation by innova, not by players =)

the only thing i care for is that when xping in populated places with multiples floors like toi more than 4hours the game becomes unplayable from client lag.

its unbelievable to think that a program in 2011 does not support more than 1.2gb of ram (according to task manager always).

task manager show you not all vm-set by default. it's ignore dll file-mapping for example.

i hope we can solve >2gb problem properly with nc.
