im not dutch, but i guess i know what you mean, i live atm in belgium but even coffee from lidl is good here xd

 

must agree that it's not in all countries that you can drink strong black cofee shots like italian/french/portugese one. gone in the us and canada, and the only good cofee i've found was in a cinema that got an espresso machine. asked them to put 1 dose in a vodka shot glass. they've don't beleive their eyes when i've drinked it with no sugar.

it's funny that since i moved to the netherlands people seem to put a lot more emphasis on cofee here. they drink more of it, they offer you more of it when you visit them and there is no institution here where they wont offer you coffee. the coffee is even free (take 1 cup) in supermarkets and clothes shops.

however, i have to admit, that the coffee that comes out of most dutch coffee machines has the foulest taste i've ever experienced. the people here seem to think coffee pads, instant coffee and other such monstrocities account for a proper cup of coffee. douwe egberts is one of the best examples of what a cup of coffee shouldn't taste like. it's mostly like drinking water with cofee taste.

most dutch people have yet to go back to basics: buy a machine that uses real beans. forget about pads, instant or worse yet: nespresso. use beans, that's where you get the taste and the freshness and use good quality beans not some mass production like douwe egberts. if you dont believe me look at all the cafes in your country, specially ones who won awards for best coffee. they use beans and proper machines and they use good brands of quality coffee. you dont even have to spend loads of money to receieve this result, just dont be fooled by nespresso advertizements and dont think that the coffee robot available at your work (usually huge douwe egberts machine) is the standard for real cofee.
