number of available summons depends on "summon points".....just read your skill descriptions

 

and how much "summon points" cost magnus the unicorn and 3 saber tooth cougar?

 

you're not supposed to mix 4th class summons with 2nd/3rd class summons.

 

this is a bugg. if u have ur summon out before finishing the quest it will remain untill u unsummon it. this happened with my phoenix. had phoenix on during the quest,finished it but i couldnt summon lion,than i rr-ed and saw that i had phoenix out. so imo this happened here too
