So L2 was designed to have 34 classes yet when you boil it down you have this: Tank: Eva's Templar Tyrr: Titan Dreadnought (maybe) Feoh: Storm Screamer Yul: Ghost Sentinel Dagger: Ghost Hunter Wynn: Nothing Healer: Shillen Saint (but really who cares?) Iss: (finally some choices that only really matter for min/maxing) Doomcryer Hierophant Dominator To go a bit more in depth lets break down each class: Tanks- There is just no tank better than the Eva's Templar, the gap isn't quite as wide as in some other classes but its there... Tyrr- 2-h sword p.atk +frenzy+rage+furious slasher(listed because some tyrr don't get a skill like this) + beserker = winner... I think a case could be made for the Dreadnought in some circumstances but over all its the Titan everyone chooses. After those 2 tyrr, whats next? Maestro after 106??? GK, Duelist, and Beserkers are just a joke. Feoh- There are no feoh other than Storm Screamer, more power on skills, more crit damage, more m.atk, more versatility with the chain aoe stun. I recently tried to make an Archmage because I figured maybe the burn was underrated... its not, the damage with the same gear isn't even close. Yul- Kind of the same as the Feoh in the sense that it has the most damage output hands down. None of the other archers offer any additional versatility. Dagger- I will admit, I know the least about daggers but I think between Grim Reaper Possession and Shadow Hunter we have the same situation as the 2 above. A case may be made for versatility between the rest though. Wynn- This class does not exist in any significant way. Healer- Mental Recharge + Ranged Weapon Resistance +Shillien Protection = marginally better than the rest. (just a box most often anyhow) Iss- Doomcryer if you want the whole party stronger, Hierophant if you want to focus on up to 2 DD's, and Dominator if you just want another DD in the party instead of an Iss. (just a box most often anyhow)
core always was strange server. everyone play "OP" classes, even if they don't like them, and have no idea how half of their skills work. but "it's OP" so i must play it. in other hand - if you chose something else, like evi, sayha, wynn or something else you are doomed to play solo.
i am evi, and i made dual summoner ;p but now im between dagger ghost hunter or that fortune seeker (tried archer didnt like it)
While server keep going a solo game thats will true. If server empower more the partys that will change.
No, just no. Tyrr you have doombringer (which has more defensive skills than other tyrrs, and still just as good damage. Evi is also top dd, with a lot of survivability and also a lot of damage on steel mind (mustrov on fist lv 1 was 1-shotting everyone on skills). Dagger you also have WR which can be sometimes better than GH, since they do always damage with those side blows, while GH can miss a lot more stabs, since if the target is hitting them, they are facing front to them. All 3 healer have their good sides, EE with 10% cd (now with no eva rune, cd is even more important to have less gap in purge) and bishop with a lot of heal power/crit (from 101 and prayer), so if ppl in your pt doesn't die 1-shot, bishop can help survive better. Best ISS for open pvp is SWS (having archery song + dmg one makes all the difference). Yul you have trickster which is even more op for pvp than GS (that ultimate bullseye landing 100% and never fading with damage is so good, since everyone now capping archery resist, which means bullseye is the sure way to drop them). Even some top archers on RU are going MS for skill cooldown and crit rate (if they can't reach 100%), not to mention having hero skills is always a huge boost for pvp and some forms of pve. About feoh, archmage doesn't rly have that much less damage compared to storm, and if you consider it has 1 more AOE (with more power than elemental storm) and it also has dot to do a bit more damage (stun isn't rly relevant on pve, and it never lands on pvp also), and that you can buy a lv 2 archmage weapon (fire) for few b more than a lv 1 lindvior caster (lv 2 weapon is rly needed for pve, and it's also good for pvp), spending same ammount of adena on the mage, archmage will pbb do more damage, since valakas weapons are cheaper. Wynn you are right, it's a forgotten class now for end-game pvp or pve (solo or mass). About tanks, I'm not sure, would need someone that has experience in playing many types of tanks to tell you what's the difference.
In PVP, it doesn't matter too much which tank you are playing because you are here to provide : Party Rescue, Party UD, Noble Sacrifice. You can also try to pull enemies or debuff them but for that, you will need to rotate your jewels for each debuff you want to land. Going into frontline during a big scale PVP without any protection will guarantee at 99% your death. You pick a tank now depending of its specific tools kit and 101 aura it can provide to you or your party. You want more damage, you go Shillien Templar. Hell Knight, bah ... panther is not helpful in PVP but ok in PVE. You want more defense, you go Eva Templar. Phoenix Knight is also an option for the defensive path. I've played both Eva Templar and Phoenix Knight. After they got reworked, Eva Templar were better than Phoenix Knight because of Maelstrom who was very annoying skill, the aura who is giving +100 attribute defense and more mdef to face-off Feoh, and this tank is running faster (when you run with your whole party, you have all support classes on the back and all DD classes on the front with 1km difference ). The extra pdef that the Phoenix Knight has in his aura won't help so much in PVP when you have DD who could ignore a percentage of your pdef. The fun I had with this class was because of Phoenix Glide to make archer coming closer to us and Flame Feather making an extra aggro skill and a good skill to remove hide. Also, the cubic saved me several time.
I know that is real what u are saying, but meta is something that players make cuz of the "patch". maybe what u are saying will change tomorrow or maybe in a year!
