im getting error every time i try to log with windows 8 professional, (its known issue but this so is released only 10 days ago so maybe not officialy known)

so, the this os is aviable for download and upgrade since day 15 (ofc the offline stores (the box the dvd and some nice user guide in paper format) its in 26 october that is known and reknown but its released online so your argument is invalid at infinitum) .

the error involving windows 8 it's about some problem with frostcollector.dll, as quoted in many threads, even in an sticky one, well, fix it, you dont need permision from ncsoft to fix it since frost is innovas, so is their tech team.

there are two separate "issues" as i know:
1) os restriction tool in project's launcher (lineageii.exe show some message box with 'os is not supported' text). new launcher (ver 5.2.0.57 and higher) with "windows 8" included in list is on pts now (not eu, but it's not important for players).
2) frostcollector's code bug in ldrloaddll hook (because of changes in w8 ntdll.dll). sorry, but i'm not sure about this issue status (maybe not actual info already!), but if you have some in-game crash-box with tech. details (signatures) while frost initial scanning (first 10 mins) - please send it to me, they will be fixed on monday / tuesday + qa / pts checks.

screenshots will be useful if your error is not "1" or "2".

this is a launcher case too (driver installation issue i think). new launcher (5.2.0.57) is on pointblank pts (ru) now. qa-team will perform some tests on monday, 03.
i don't like ver.5.2.0.57 due to some reasons, so i'm sure, higher version will be released.

so status is:
waiting for qa feedback about 5.2.0.57 stability

 

if i understand this there is a test version that can work that is being tested and prepared to release? or just a new version?

yes, it's w8-compatible launcher's version (should be). test is in progress now as i know (from pts pointblank qa-testers).
p.s. i don't like ver.5.2.0.57 code, i think it's still 'bugged'.

hidrica, can you tell me anything about compatibility-mode on launcher's (frost\lineageii.exe properties) executable (with w7 for example)?

after n-hours of the remote dedugging on pointblank user's pc with w8:
upd: launcher's code (ver. 5.2.0.57) was verified - it's ok. on windows8 frost driver is loading by zwloaddriver with some registry settings. loading progress & driver's control is ok too.
but the game still crashes due to the bug in frostcollector (see my post above - it's actual info, checked by me).

so the only thing we need right now is to remove incompatible code from frostcollector or make it safe for w8 calling features.

upd2: frostcollector's code review & repair is in progress. next build will be available soon i think (on pts ofc)

today, 11.09.2012 'win8'-release (launcher + frostcollector) will be available on live, i think.
upd: not included in maintenance plan, so update will be accessible later (evening i hope)

upd: i've found a critical bug in frostcollector 1.2.4.19. this bug makes frostocollector not compatible with certain win8 builds (for example with ntdll.dll ver. 6.2.9200.16384, timedate stamp 5010ae7a, md5 a0e0d7c52bb708a075e71c2847750b42). so some patches are planned on 12.09.2012 (on pts i think)

 

still not working, it stops loading after the frost logo now no error, just it stoped working

 

same results with windows 8 professional x64 (fresh install).

4) i'm a computer engineer and i do now what i'm saying. frostcollector v1.2.4.20 fixes windows 8 compatibility (which is available on pts and qa, according to http://frostsecurity.net/frost/preload/version.txt).
5) as a moderator you should show more respect.
