Hi, I wanted to showcase some of my custom designed maps and battlegrounds that were implemented on one of private servers I used to play long time in the past. Custom Battleground Lobby - Where players wait in the queue while socialising and doing silly stuff, has a nice feeling to it too. https://www.dropbox.com/s/9z0c2n7qnw74yeo/screenRAthena003.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/cv5fft9sallj950/screenRAthena004.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/9o7wlfj85a36l65/screenRAthena006.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/e13cvu6vcfgvi8y/BGlobby.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/l8gzhwahl17j8k0/BGlobby2.jpg?dl=0 The Great Wall - Small battleground where both teams start in the center section and fight to push the other team back to their tower, the last one to live gets to press switch which moves both teams into the next section, in direction of losing team. whichever team crosses to the last section and presses last switch wins the battleground. https://www.dropbox.com/s/hkp7k1n7r3xf0by/CHWall.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/zd9rm90d9t6vgd8/CHWallmini.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/wtzveq99jxg7de5/CHwall1.jpg?dl=0 The Colisseum - A free for all last man standing pvp arena with real crowd watching from the sides and wild animals/lions being released during the fight to make things more fun https://www.dropbox.com/s/w4a3yzxwpyujuiu/Coliseum.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/j2mb8o8fnox3a6s/Coliseum2.jpg?dl=0 Run Through The Marshlands - Funny race without skills and items use at 20% of speed through a real maze where tiles are randomly swapped with each new race to one of many sets so that crossing is as much difficult each time, kind of a challenge for everyone, no matter the level or skill https://www.dropbox.com/s/xrtabr5w3qr3vsc/RttM.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/smu6knvd1az97g5/RttMgat.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/n0uml4hkscwcoc6/RttMmini.jpg?dl=0 The Dragon Valley - Huge and complex 32 vs 32 Battleground with lots of creative features like cutting bridges, loading and shooting canons, traps, pitfalls, airships to spawn from, medic tents, mine for upgrades of the structures, barricades, slides to move around map faster, dragon lair for obliteration of enemy team. The team which gets through the fortress of enemies and breaks the emperium first wins, but it's not an easy task with so many obstacles on both teams way. The real fight can take place in the middle where large remains of a dragon are, that's no mans land and each of the sides has a small way to the side of the fort to get out of the cave from falling into pitfalls and cutting bridges. Also the massive spikes representing bones of the dragon in the valley make it more difficult to commit into a fight from large distance. https://www.dropbox.com/s/kc9wnhlpdywhxg5/BGlight2.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/c3biggf6wy7n1ke/BGmini2.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/7d7rugd8pnf19wf/romapa.jpg?dl=0 The features: Canons, levers and hit spots https://www.dropbox.com/s/1qagkg3hksewgqt/Armata1.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/q19r2q3zl6pcilk/Armata1Cel.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/3aqohsma6ij50zr/Armata2.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/4msh5p0paylzik5/Armata2Cel.jpg?dl=0 Dragon's Lair and emperium on top of the hill https://www.dropbox.com/s/8b535p13kmc3r2o/Bestia.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/is5b0t4mwynhfzw/Emperium.jpg?dl=0 Both forts with only the functionality and structures (hidden foliage etc) https://www.dropbox.com/s/6yqbd5m3rfs2xfp/Fort.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/j9655y6lahr591j/Fort2.jpg?dl=0 Command Center, Gate with spikes and barricade, Mine https://www.dropbox.com/s/xnzo39t7pxzl2ny/Kapitan.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/1k2agvjw5ih1bun/Kolce.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/aujtlvl1qqqwzkz/Kopalnia.jpg?dl=0 Medic tents for healing and Respawn point https://www.dropbox.com/s/n9xmroyate8ukpj/Medyczny.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/8nru00zxnt6so5s/Respawn.jpg?dl=0 Bridges that can be cut, Pitfall traps and the side exit for the fallen ones https://www.dropbox.com/s/skc2z63x4oqnxxw/Most.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/voa01t9qfknj49e/Szyb.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/nchnz6ks7ulgt0l/Zapadnia.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/nchnz6ks7ulgt0l/Zapadnia.jpg?dl=0 The airship starting point, the sliding ropes to cross hill levels faster https://www.dropbox.com/s/y6wxwz5mtg8oxxo/Statek.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/w33i67qhj7vhgb8/ZjazdLina.jpg?dl=0 Hope you guys enjoy my creativity as map designer, see you on the server! EDIT: Somehow this forum doesn't like images so I have to give links to dropbox
I really like the battleground lobby ! Big Guild wars 1 vibe for me. Very good memories. I love the atmosphere. I could see myself sitting there talking as I did pront-sitting in the past. The others have both a very "1990' games" / "age of empire". Very well done ! Thanks a lot for sharing :3 (I'm not sure if the post will be removed or not though, depends on how are the moderators here, if there are any).
I'm glad you like it. Why do you think mods would delete this thread though? It's a creative thing I've done for RO in the past out of love, nothing illegal
Back on the fRO servers (a long time ago), mods were very active and basically deleted almost any message that was mentioning the fact pserv existed. However it was back when the official servers were really really crowded and active, and we had often many GM / CM online. It's a bit different from now where we have like 0 or 1 person from the staff online sometimes.
Sorry to hear that but it sounds harsh. Private servers are open sourced and licensed for anyone to use. There is nothing wrong with them aside of them needing to be maintained. Discrediting ideas like mine for them to be implemented on a private server would sound like an act of envy. While it being the best passionate players can do with their creativity since we know an idea like that would never exist on an official server. I have put lots of work and hours into production of my maps, while now being able to only share the ideas and some images with other players. Let's hope this won't be shoved under a rug.
I completely agree with you. You must have spent a lot of time working on these maps, and it shows, it's, in my opinion, very well done. (I really want a wood / campfire-theme battleground lobby as you did). And I also think that in the past ~16 years, mentality have changed as to how big compagnies think they should handle such work from fans.
