tags: [quests and drop] [other game mechanics aspects] make your pets do all the job: kill your foes and loot the drop. penalty does not apply tests are hips – they never lie. purpose: to check whether the level of summons affects drop rate and penalty. experiment: wynn spectral master killed scarlet van halisha raid boss. we used elcyum crystal to estimate penalty, as its drop rate without penalty is 100%. in the first test wynn spectral master was level 85 and its summon saber tooth cougar was the same level (85, summon skill lvl 1). then we killed the raidboss with the help of the summon: elcyum crystal was dropped from it as it should be as scarlet van halisha was white for them. in the second test wynn spectral master of level 99 had not learned new skills and had a summon saber tooth cougar, lvl. 85. we killed the same raid boss, but there was no drop at all including elcyum crystal. conclusion: penalty depends on the summoner's level rather than on the level of the summon.
and how many times you killed this boss in both cases? cause you described it like you did it only once...
it would be great to check also other configuration: wynn summoner lvl 89 with all skills (sumons lvl 89 too) deleveled to 85 or 86 (just not to lose the skills from lvl 89). and see how this configuration affects drop rate.
i would be pretty damn certain that drop rates are effected by the host and not the pet, in the same way each time you invite someone into your party drop chance is affected by their level and drop rate chance. how can a summoner possibly be out of the equation on drop chance just because his pet did most of the damage, regardless of solo or not the summoner is the host of that pet and that is like a mini party in itself. unless the summoner ran a mile away from his pet before the kill happened i can't see any other possible outcome.
