hello. i am facing a problem is it only me or someone else aswell had to downgrade theirs settings in order to play ? on what settings people with decent computers nowadays play on mass events / daily activitys / average crowded activitys like 5 + partys at one place ?
i have full settings with my wife and no graphic lag at all , alienware 17 4700mq . if you have a decent pc, restore your graphic card settings on default and use alt+p (lower detail) ingame with npc limit "very wide, very wide, narrow" and u'll be fine. remember that graphic lag is caused by players (overcrowded spots), places with fog like gf etc etc.. it's not about what settings everyone wanna use , it's about "is my pc good enough for those settings?" xd

you have full settings with 4700mq but you have it when doing some things like instances ? i have i5 4670k procesor which out perform your by far , but barely really can play on higher scale things. beside that my hardware gets what it needs from any other game. the thing is not the settings i can play but the fps i get from those settings and those fps drop so much when it shouldnt...
i3-530 2.9ghz, 12gb ram, 128gb ssd + wd 1tb hdd, nvidia gtx 550ti. 1440*900 rezolution, 100mbps connection. all setings mid/low (since old c4 days when i play this game on my old p4ht ) just on sieges turn off cloaks. this feature really help to decrease lag.
i7 4.0 ghz, 8 gb ram, ssd, 1440x990 . minimum graphics details. npc limit 80 %. terrain range: average, npc range : wery wide. cloaks: show just mine. mass pvp around 17 fps, daily pvp 35 v 35 around 30 fps. about cloaks: it says cloaks, but its also for effects. if u turn it off, u will not see animations on characters, letsay if character will get celestial, u will not see red circle around him. u can still check buffs in buff/debuff window. its just animations. that's why it improves fps so much, in mass pvp with so much effects, it can take some fps down.
fx-8320@5 ghz 8 gb@2133mhz , raid 0, 1680x1050 everything on high... average range on terrain and npc ... no npc limit... no fancy shader **** i drop the cloaks and shadows in mass pvps/crowded areas 25-35 fps ohh and setting my gpu on performance mode helped in transition areas
all graphics on low with terrain settings as wide as possible here. personally i don't really get the point of playing l2 in full graphics, it will most likely just cause problems in mass pvp/raids and in the end it's all for looks. the function of the game won't really get better with full graphics. anyways l2 runs on an old unreal engine so it will always be heavy on your system even with the newest hardware.
i5 3570k@4.3ghz, sapphire hd 7950 vapor-x oced a little,8 gb ram, 128gb crucial m4 , win 8.1, must dl fraps to see my fps, but in aden with 100ppl +- there, i get like 10 fps :d stutters like hell, on max visibility/high details (all advanced graphic options off), on lower details it is ok, but cant see shi t
you should try doing stuff during mass pvp when im standing there with my clan its fine, but once our enemies come and everyone's popping skills around me it's hard for me to do anything even on lowest possible settings, otherwise its generally okay.
from my experience: i5 8 logic cores, 4 physical -> stock ~2.5ghz -> oc to 4.5 ghz . fps increase in town around ~5-10 fps (almost none) ssd samsung 128 gb. load game increase by almost 200%. fps increase 10 fps and i dont need to alt +p anymore. change graphic to gigabyte 560 ti . no increase. increase 4 to 8 gb ram. no increase my current laptop: i7, 2.3 ghz, turbo 2.8 ghz ssd samsung 128 gb (changed) some weird graphic card. w/o ssd hd i couldnt play in mass. with ssd it is better then my pc above. i had almost no fps drop during siege aden. i suspect i5 doesnt support l2 too well.
personally i have i5 4570, ssd 64 gb ( need to take a 100gb one ), 320 gb hdd, 1tera hdd gts 450 1gb ram(old card but more than enough for l2 z87 ( chipset ) motherboard of asus 8 gb ram and i play with lower settings without lag at all on sieges a small hint, if you are interested to buy new proccessor of intel series, take a haswell proccessor they are the latest if intel and have windows and l2 in ssd and if you want to overclock your proccessor take i5 or i7 of k series, intel promote a lot i5 4670k for example

550eur cpu legit i just downloaded fraps to see my fps, i was right when i guessed 10 fps, with max visibility and standing on top of aden stairs, i was getting 11-13 fps, with alt+p i was getting ±30, but anything beyond kartia npc was invisible for me :d
so people with crappier computers has more fps when people with good computers ? erm ? i have i5 4670k oced to 4.5 cant play on low resolution without putting display limit to 20-30...
well many ppl have problems cause they dont even care to clean their pc and its like spiders living inside their towers or the dont make regularly format btw dont forget to have a good cooler for cpu which is important, and not the ones that are in the same box with cpu when you buyed it
even if i made my computer faster l2 did not liked my new staff except ssd. i tested crysis 2 with render pack at newest directx 11 (didnt work before) and was great. and damn game that uses 10y old + engine likes only high speed hdd?! i've heard ram disk gives absolutely great fps increase
thats true, what i said is some small hints to make the game a bit better but for sure you cant have the best results on a game with so old engine about ram i dont know i must check it
who said i have low fps ? : im playing with 120fps on mass pvp,epics,siege i have 60fps. i even sometimes stream this server.
