    robe of course.
let us see what is important for a summoner in pve:
    1. mp regen (upkeep)
    2. casting speed (last hits, healing the pet fast etc.)
    ...
    999. a bit of extra p.def

remember that by wearing a robe you also gain additional casting speed from the robe set from other passives and the robe set bonus itself

    in pvp:
    1. casting speed
    2. run speed

    so yeah...robe..definitely....

at least up to r grade. dunno after that. if leather has some sort of reflect it might be usable.

i'm doing just fine in bw light set ty,got 3k+ mana ,4k with bts, cast speed 800 and 1400 full buffed, since i have to wait on reuse for pet heal i suppose is enough.also ~800 pdef, more full buffed, with transfer pain i can also tank pretty well, and i'm just 78.and you also get additional cast speed for wearing light armor as well.
i suppose best set is the one that suits your needs(solo pve, party pve,1vs1 pvp, mass pvp, oly, etc)

the only reason that summoners had a bow was for transformation
besides that the transfer power isnt great enough to use that combination anymore

heavy armor seems to be our best choice in 85+ along with what brely said.

since what transfer most is p.def/m.def and p.atk/m.atk
leather has nice bonuses like atk. speed. and crit. but like 3% that means summon gets quite a lower figure than we do (for calculations sake we have 100 crit that means we get 103 and summon gets 30% of it which is negligible)

considering how hard warrior, archer and some tanks hit and that our marks are fixed dmg and fixed cast time better go heavy imo.

and the casting speed is good enough for everything (1250 cast without dye in heavy setup and empo staff). servitor heal or retriver/mark of fire are like 0,5 cast or less.

i'm in this same question :â·?
the only difference light than heavy is: the light's mastery has 132 p.def and +2 int
and than, tell me for pvp what is better robe or light(heavy)?
i know with robe i have more mp and cspeed --> 25% of immortal robe bonus + 5% of mastery ( why need cspeed? the only reazon of cspeed is heal and has 3 seconds of delay ) and m.atack for reaper's spells.
with light(heavy) i have more p.def and more hp, and more str but less cspeed and no m.atack
ok this is all, my friends, i hope you can help my :)
pd: sorry if my english is bad.

why do u even talk about pvp 1vs1 or pve? all that matters is oly and mass pvp. :f i dont rly know yet, which set is best, but so far, till 95, im using robe.
