There are 2 types of maintenance that we have on our projects:

    1. Weekly (planned) maintenance that is held every Tuesday mainly from 8:00 till 12:00 CET.

    2. Extra maintenance that can be held at any time. Its duration depends on the reason and can last from several minutes up to several hours. Extra maintenance can be planned or unplanned.

The team usually announces the maintenance in advance (~12 hours) in official sources (forum, Facebook, Twitter). If the maintenance is unplanned the announcement can be posted 5-10 minutes before the maintenance.

Depending on the information from the engineers and testing department, the team may change the duration of the maintenance.

    Maintenance may include:
    • Rebooting and dusting the server
    • Update of hardware
    • Applying bugfixes
    • Applying patches
    • Localization update
    • Frost update
    • 4game platform update
    • DB works
    • Application of events settings (switching on and off)
    • L2 Store updates
    • Starting and stopping promotions
    • Loading screen updates
    • Mass addition and deletion of items (for example, event items)
    • other changes

Clan leader change is usually applied during the regular maintenance because of the server restart, but it can be done during any full server restart, for example, during extra maintenance.

To ensure the smoothness of the process we interact with data-center staff and a lot of our inner departments like billing, development, network department and so on.

You can always check the fixes that were made during each maintenance in the special topic:
