Opening ports question (connectivity)

Hi,

I plan on playing L2 again but i play from Canada and i have constant high ping. I am trying to do whatever possible to lower my ping and I am wondering if there are some ports we can open for this server. Also, if you have any other way of improving ping let me know. Thanks.

 

I have found the 3 ports to open (7777, 2106, 17453) correct me if i'm wrong. I haven't installed the game yet but do you know what is the public ip address of the server?

Consider using pingzapper, battleping (paid services), wtfast i think its free. it will lower your ping

if u can log in u dont need to open any ports.. ports need to be opened if your isp/network manager/router blocks them
try using pingzapper/wtfast/battleping (wtfast have trial version but disconects each 1h, so if u see it works consider in buying it doesnt cost a fortune)

 

I think opening ports still help with packet transfer. I have downloaded wtfast but it's a fake trial version that asks credit info, i will look at the others soon. I did a tracert and my ping is fine until it reaches some router in europe and it goes from 30 to 100ms within the cogentco network. I sent them a mail maybe they will look into it. I can't really spend on paid services right now so i dont have much choice.

EDIT: i checked pingzapper but it says its only for steam

 

launching a game opens ports on your pc by default (it connects to them to make a <-> connection) as i said u dont need to open them manualy unless your isp/network manager(the one with router if u are more than 1 user of 1 connection) has blocked them and fully closed port wouldnt let u connect at all

Those ports had been already opened on your side, no more "opening" could be done.
