Nop its not safe. Its all about trust in those kind of trades. The only trust thing in game trade is Payment mail or trade ( where you put the adena, he put the item and both click OK ). Probably hes a legit trader but still is all on your own risk .
When a player picks up Akamanah/Zarich weapon, his name is changed to the weapon. So to message or mail the carrier, you need to know who his real name. Make a global shout, it will be easier for you to get the info.
