Olympic Marathon

london is buzzing with oceans of people who have come over from all over the world to witness olympic games 2012. we decided to have our own olympiad-inspired event - olympic marathon!

what is going to happen is the following:
players will be starting out from where they are at the moment of the event. the aim will be to cover a certain distance collecting chest keys all over the world map!
there isn't one place to start the event, although there is date and time - 10th august, 8 p.m. (gmt+0).

prizes and conditions will be listed here tomorrow.

the location of checkpoints where you will be able to obtain chest keys will be announced shortly before the event itself

the event is going to go the following way.

at 8 p.m. (gmt+0) there will be a countdown and at the end of it a map with checkpoints will be posted here in this thread.

upon the countdown, the event starts.

right after the countdown all characters that are willing to take part in the marathon can move only in the following way:

• on foot
• ride a mount
• use skills that move a character to a relatively short distance
• use regular and blessed scrolls of escape to the nearest town
• resurrect after death to the nearest village/town
• with the help of skills that teleport you or your party to the nearest village/town

some examples of moving across the map that are forbidden and are followed by the disqualification of a participant:

• gatekeepers in towns and other parts of the world
• scrolls of escape that port you to certain towns, clan halls, castles, fortresses
• death and the following resurrection not in the nearest town

after you hear (or, rather, see) "3, 2, 1, go!" countdown the main goal for the participants is to work out the best route from where they are at the start of the event in order to get to all 8 checkpoints as quickly as possible.

there is a trader at every checkpoint that sells chest keys for 20,000 adena. the task is to buy one chest key. characters that will buy more than one key will be disqualified.
attention! to block the trader (impossible to target) with your own character, pet or summon is not allowed. gms retain the right to move such characters that also get disqualified.
there will be an anti-pk protection system at every checkpoint.

having collected all 8 chest keys you need to port to the nearest town and send them by mail to the character eventfinish.

first 30 characters are receiving rewards!
rewards will be given out within the next day once the event is over and the legitimacy of the winners is checked.

all keys should be collected and sent by one and the same character!

 

i wonder how would u know if sm1 cheated(got summoned, used soe or whatever)...

maybe they will take that time to check server logs ?

im wondering if this will be a nice pvp event like the last one :x

 

checkpoints are situated in the middle of the red marks.

and remember to follow the rules of moving around the map. fair play!

so maybe needed to make starting point or from first key you can't use other ports...

when event started i got ported to lms arenas and after finish got ported to another city, so event ends for me? as this imho was already illegal port?

 

you may continue with the event, any illegal actions will be found during the log checks anyway.

 

be carefull, in the one of field of masacre, there are 1 dwarf scammer selling keys 200kk, fortunately i had only 25kk on inventory euehueheue so good luck

didnt finished the event, wasnt my cup of tea, running around the whole map, but gz to the winners, if there are some.

 

god, it took me so long to run though all these checkpoints, but i liked the idea of this event, more of such please

 

rely pro event i go to the first location got ***** from ganging war pt they just stay there and kill ppl you speak about olympics game just lol you know what symbolizes the olympics = peace !!!!! but now i see how some ******ed people try to screw other ppls ho try to enjoy. if that is olympics game i am donald trump ! really inova you improved your record the most stupid event in the history from the beginning of server - 10 for the event

 

just finished. for my defence i did 1 tp to go to elven village. i was coming from d.elven on foot and i typed /loc and said near elven village so i did pr, but it brought me to dark elven. nice event, hope the rewards are nice too for so much running + 1% lost
