hello people, these days i am preparing a new gaming pc so i got an offer from a friendly company of mine so here are the features: processor: intel processor type: 3rd generation intel core i3 processor model: 3220 processor cache: 3 mb motherboard chipset: b75 cpu slot: lga 1155 memory: 4 gb memory type: ddr3 memory frequency: 1600 mhz motherboard: asus hard disks: 1 hard disk memory: 1 tb hard disk speed: 7200 rpm graphics card: ati graphics card chipset: radeon hd 7750 memory: 1 gb gddr5 if i am correct memory interface: 128bit graphics card connection: pci express 16x dvd rw sata 22x windows 7 home premium sound card type: on board 8 channel sound networking: gigabyt lan 2nd hard disk : 120 gb type: ssd i am making this pc for my work and of course games... i don't expect it to play crisis or battlefield but i really expect it to play l2 in high even top detail. i am not so familiar with software-hardware so i ask your opinion. price is 820euro! i hope you understand the features i translated it myself from greek ^^
my unprofessional opinion : get an older ( gen2 ) i5. get 8gigs of ram. you don't need 7750 for l2 and you don't need 120gb ssd ( 60 is enough for l2, leave windows on the 1tb. it has 0 difference for the game if windows is on the ssd or not ), so buy something cheaper.
about the i3 i am thinking of this as well... i hear that i3 is not preferrable for gaming pcs, but in order to get an i5 am i going to buy it a lot more?... if it's a small difference then ok. about the 7750 you mean it's too much for l2 or i can get the same results with a cheaper graphics card? i am spending these money for a pc that i will keep for 1-2 years despite this hardware being old by then... if these features offer me top results in l2 then i am more than satisfied. i will also be using this pc, for my company programs that need some space. i am less than an amateur in this field but i think i am giving an idea of what i want. :d thanks for your answer btw
acutally lineage 2 uses a lot of cpu. i felt difference when i overclocked my cpu from 2,7 to ~3,8 ghz. for your information. ive got gigabyte 560 ti graphic card and it didnt change anything with lineage 2 on my computer (i had radeon 6700 series). i still have low fps during sieges. i think its due to low ram (4 gb). my pagefiles is wow 5gb so i guess this is another issue to fight with.
but windows on ssd makes a big difference on overall responsiveness. so i would (and did) install also os on ssd.
ssd it's awesome, as yankki said. pc booting in about 10 seconds, and it improves basically any windows-based action. lineage it's a ssd dependant game, having a ssd would improve any actions you're making. if playing lineage it's one of the main reasons you're buying the pc, than you need a powerful cpu (3570k added on a z77 motherboard chipset allows you to easly overclock it up to 4.5ghz), 8gb of ram, 120gb ssd (i took the kingston hyperx 3k) and a weaker yet not so weak graphic card (640gt from nvidia, or something similar).
