    what does it mean: “to kill a boss
    it's hard to say, my friend, because
    you're not alone in killing it,
    but you get loot if you succeed.
    who kills the boss? the one to land
    a final strike on bossy brute?
    the one to damage most? again,
    this is the one who gets the loot.

    there is a myth in the world of lineage 2: no matter what is the level of the character that attacks a raid boss - even if the character is many levels higher than the boss, the drop is calculated with account only taken of the character that has dealt the most damage. that is, if a high-level character decreases a raid boss's hp by 49% while the remaining 51% is dealt with by a character of a level corresponding to that of the boss, one gets a 100% drop (without any drop penalty).

    also, there is a myth according to which, if a raid boss's hp is decreased by 99% by a higher-level character and the boss is finally killed by a character of the appropriate level, one gets a 100% drop (without any drop penalty).

    these are the two myths we would like to put to test.

    test conditions: the raid boss we have picked for the experiment is scarlet van halisha (the demon controlled by frintezza ). this boss was chosen due to the fact that it does not use raid curse if the character is 9 levels higher than the boss. thus, while the boss's level is 85, we can participate in the raid with level 99 characters, which will enable us to make the test results more graphic. theoretically, the raid boss drops adena at a 100% rate (this assumption will also be tested in a preliminary test). if it turns out that adena is always dropped for level 85 characters, it will be very easy to make conclusions on the drop penalty.

    drop example from 25 raids for a level 85 character:

    [IMG]

    test 1:

    in the first test we checked the actual drop rate. to do so, we killed the raid boss with a level 85 character. (the color of the boss was white for him). from 1,000 raids we obtained:

    {tbody}{tr}{tr}{tr}{tr}{tr}{tr}{tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tbody}
    itemquantitybsor3426bsoe9042ls 861467ls 851581cloak542necklace327

    test 2:

    in the second test the boss's hp was decreased by 40-45% by a level 99 character. (the boss was blue for him). the remaining 55-60% hp was removed by a level 85 character, for which the boss was white:

    {tbody}{tr}{tr}{tr}{tr}{tr}{tr}{tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tr}{/tbody}
    itemquantitybsor3358bsoe9124ls 861358ls 851541cloak538necklace314
    the boss dropped adena each time, that is, the drop rate was 100%, no matter which character landed the final blow - the level 99 or 85 character. however, if by accident the level 99 character decreased the raid boss's hp level by more than 50%, there was no drop at all.

    here are the results in a chart:

    [IMG]

    (several numbers have been reduced proportionally for this chart)

    conclusion: as you can see, the results are quite similar. the assumption that drop depends on the level of the character that has inflicted the most damage has proved true. as for the allegation that drop only depends on the level of the character that has actually killed the boss, it is just a myth: it does not matter who landed the final blow.

    nice test, thanks guys, it'll help stop people from spreading their "theories", lol.
    last one i heard was "the average level in a party is checked", i laughed hard.

    anyway, the good old passive raid boss stat, since gracia epilogue or even earlier, says:

    you can check it yourself in-game, not every raid boss says so, but it applies to every one of them.

    thanks again guys, good job.

    edit:
    i hope i just answered your question.
    you'd need to make the greatest contribution to killing the boss and be of 9 levels or more above boss'es level, to disable its drop.

    lumi will never do enough dmg, what would be good to know is if heals counts in some way as dmg done.

    lumi itself applies damage over time only.
    the hex it applies on a target does not count as healer's damage, obviously, and the higher damage that it allows, still counts as damage dealers' damage. if their levels aren't too high, everything is gonna be fine.
