Any possiblities getting names back?

hello. i've been running with a couple of nicks on previous servers, but since i started late on this one, other people have taken them. i'm wondering if it's possible to reclaim taken names that aren't being played, i.e someone making a level 1 character and never ever touching it just to have the name.
