no, ncsoft will not open an english lineage 2 classic server, and apparently, neither will innova. why should they? if there really was an english speaking community who would actually play lineage 2 classic, then there would be a large blossoming english speaking community on the russian servers right now, but there isn't. i have more fingers on my hands than there are non-russian speaking people playing actively on l2c. (yes, i have 10 fingers)

why isn't there an english speaking community on l2c at the moment? because people don't care enough to actually play, because if they did, we would be raiding ant queen and orfen right now, and have cruma under a lockdown.

this community doesn't actually 'want' to play lineage 2 classic. they just want the servers to launch so they can run around and pvp in any starter villages for a few days until their nostalgia runs out, and then they will quit. both ncsoft and especially innova knows this, because if people really wanted to play, there would be an english community on the russian classic. ..but there isn't, so why should they bother translating the game and setting up a server for us?

back in 2003, when lineage 2 was about to launch, there was a large english speaking community in the korean beta. then there was a large english speaking community in the taiwanese beta, and then there was a large english speaking community in the japanese beta, and then the english servers launched.

now, during the lineage 2 classic korean open beta, was there a large english speaking community? no, there was a large russian speaking community. and guess what, innova bought the rights and opened a russian server, and the russians started playing there instead. is there an english speaking community on the russian server now spite it being open, cheap with low ping and welcoming to us? no. see where i'm going with this?

there's nothing stopping us from enjoying classic right now, except laziness. chrome translates the website/forum, an account is 4euros a month, the ping is great (server location; luxembourg), and there's an english patch for the game (text files from ertheia).

if we actually played, they would give us a server.

for those saying the problem is you can't pay, it's because you need an actual visa card, and not a visa electron. you then buy a 30day gift code with your visa card, and apply it to your account, or, give the gift code to someone else.

there's actually money to be made here for someone with an actual visa card, as people are willing to pay you through paypal for you to send them a 30day gift-code. if people actually want to play, they'll pay a euro extra for as tip for you selling gift codes.

i am ordering a visa now, and when i get it, those who want to play can pay send me a message, and i will give you my paypal info where you can send me 5 euros and your account username (not password), and i will buy a gift code and send it to your account.

dont tell me about old chronicles cuz i started play since c3. anw if you want "classic" so you need 2 more things. no auto shots, put them to f1/f2 or w/e and click after each hit/skill, and map, buy scrolls to open map, not alt+m. this is just 2 small things.
btw 20-50adena/mob awesome dropz!!! in few weeks you can buy devotion set.

 

well i guess l2c is not your thing. i'm an old player. i still remember playing prelude, c1, c2... it gave me so much fun. i remember i had to make money somehow, not drop it only from mobs. i remember i had to kill bugbears near hunter's village to get parts for brigandine shield and helmet, and you know what? i was still using no grade weapon (falchion http://l2wiki.com/falchion) yeah, top no grade at lvl 40. then i made my own business and started selling crafted by myself brigandine stuff. and you know what? it made me one of the richest guys on the server and made me have first top b grade set (blue wolf) noone else had it faster, and b grade was the highest atm. everybody was so jealous. what made real l2 fun were things like these. not easy **** like we have now.

 

you are totally wrong,noone normal non russian person will play on ru classic more than few days or weeks,even the server is full of ppl its still a freaking russian speaking server.even to register on the russian site is a pain in the ***,how the hell you will manage to play when all npcs are on freaking russian?and the 1% of server only knows english ?
even the "english patch" there is illegal and you can get ban when you place a store in english or link anything from your invetory.
ok if you are enough masochist you can play there but its other story,majority of eu ppl just waiting an english speaking server to open to move,its so simple so get it and just wait to see it.

the patch works just fine for me. maybe i have a different one. the only thing is that npc's in starter villages are called nonamenpc, the npc-dialogue is in russian, but luckily we've played l2 before so we know what to click on to talk to vendors etc. quest guides you can find online. (http://l2.eogamer.com/wiki/pre-god_-_qu ... ed_by_town) you would think teleporting is tricky because it's in russian, but luckily, the map is in russian too, so look at the map to see which option you have to click on at the gatekeeper.

other than that, the interface is in english, the mobs have english names, items are in english and there's always someone in a russian party who speaks english, and they are very friendly, curious and want to chat with you. often about where you live and what the weather is like. =p i've made a lot of english speaking russian friends this way, and this is probably the main reason why i still play there, even though there's no english speaking community.

but of course, if people are used to playing on private servers with 10x rates, or versions of the game where exp is naturally boosted like in god+, then it will be hard for them to play original l2. the russians are loving it, though, so i don't understand why europeans and americans can't as well. has the western world been spoiled by theme park mmo's where there's no real hard work involved?

is the original western l2 community a thing of the past? if so, i guess i have to download russian language lessons.

also, there's no way of anyone knowing your text files are from the ertheia client unless you shift-click items, or post a screenshot on the forums with your english client without covering your characters name.

i don't get why people are creating problems where the solutions are obvious. chrome translates the website and the forum, so you can even read the forum in (strange) english.

cause there is no english community in l2 russian, but there was for few weeks 0,01% of population , for this reason we have this topic here and waiting on answer. forcing people to play something which is obvious with an answer is not good idea.

russian community in d2 and l2 are two different things. russians in d2 = noobs and *******s, russians in l2 = proz and much friendlier. one of the thing that has something to do with it is probably that dota2 is f2p and any idiot (kid) can play, while l2classic (russian) is played by mostly people that play l2 for decade, which makes most of them 30+. to be honest i've met dozens of russians and only 2 are younger than 25, while really big number of them is over 30.

 

this is delusional, you're asinine. i've been following classic news since day one, i'd play an english version of classic nonstop, i'm not going to waste my time on the russian or korean one though, if an english version does come out, i'd just quit the russian/korean anyways, it's not fun to me to grind hardcore for no reason if i'm not going to play long term.

and you're making being from the us and playing on a russian/korean l2c server sound easy, that's pretty funny. yea i really want to spend some time translating and memorizing item names and teleport npc texts by heart so i can interact in the russian l2c.

no death penalties
no cp
enable dropping items on monster death, why would you remove training from the game? training allowed players to regulate bot parties themselves, at least in certain zones, and you get rewarded with a drop. in general, you should always be punished for dying with a chance of dropping any item, it makes the game "matter" in some sense, you tend to be more careful.
adding in 'common' items destroyed the economy, among many others things, anyway there's just no point in having them there should always be a market for d grade/c grade, you should encourage people to value a brig set.
complaining about leveling without soulshots.. no one is going to have soulshots so it's like the game is just a game without soulshots at the beginning, just deal with "harder" killing mobs, the guys that do get soulshots get rewarded to being able to afford a luxury

all you really need to do is just ban the bots and just say straight up you're permabanned for buying gold, buying gold is going to kill the economy real quick, these kiddos playing will be addicted anyway, so just permaban them, chances are they'll be back on a new account so you get that paper you care so much about, and as a bonus you improve the quality of your game for the actual players that just want to enjoy an good old fashioned grind game

make leveling matter
make progress matter

i know it's a simple, boring grind, but it's an achievement and you can get cool gear if you do it right.

don't think about it too much, you guys think it's this huge rush. just enjoy logging in, meet some friends, get a party going, setup a teamspeak, have a nice chat, maybe make a clan and do some things sometimes

i am not suprised that seraphina can count english speaking community with his alien hands.. like someone already said why would anybody want to play on russian/cyrilic server where u even cant install english patch cause its simply illegal.. who would voluntarily play server where u cant talk with 99% of community because we all know russians - they are ignoring other languages except their own master language..
