NCSOFT will open a classic server

first time they said (in august) that they gonna make survey in september, so i wouldn't take this dealdines too seriously. we are already waiting for almost a year, but i don't mind waiting another year as long as they make it right. i want to see their plan to battle bots, that's the thing that will make or break this project, simple as that.

 

i agree about not more than 2 servers.

but it's sad, that in few months one of them will be with all tops, and other will be like eva nowadays.

so i think it will be good to merge them as soon, as it possible (but not impossible on start, because everyone want to try =) )

 

why not one server? one server is guarentee it never dies....we have a private server, wont say which, that is going to be opening with 15,000 people. why cant they do that for l2 classic?

 

they can't open 1 server, because than most of the people wouldn't be able to enter one server at the time and would have to wait 5-6+ hours just to log in the game. 15k and other ridiculous numbers that private servers are putting are mega fake and has nothing to do with reality. in russia they didn't want to put cap limit over 6.5k because that was already pushing the line and anything above 7k could (of real accounts) just crash the server.

 

one server might actually be really cool. idk if you're expecting a small population, but one server for one last l2 classic fiesta so there's no merge or other stuff in the longrun. ;^} would be cool i don't mind wait times i'd rather have 1 server 100% full forever than like some gradual dieoff and merge

 

trust me, i agree that 1 server is the way to go for long period as well. but they can't open with 1 server. you are saying now that you don't mind, but you haven't seen all the drama on first week of russian classic opening because people couldn't enter and they opened with 4 servers. people are going to pay 10 or more euros and they wan't to play for the money they gave not to wait in lobby. merging on l2 classic is not something that would cripple server in any way since main obstacle (especially in first several months) are getting experience and adenas, regardless of player interaction.

 

drama happened because top clans decided to play on gk and non factors simple followed. if eu will have 2 servers (which is pointless cause it splits community), the same thing will happen. majority will play on 1 basic server while 2nd will be dead within a month. its much better to have 1 server with 4k population in peak than 2 servers with 2k each. also i highly doubt that we will have as much as 1 full server.

 

that is true, and because of it in few months it's better to merge 2 servers in one.

but at the begining it's impossible to start with one server. will you be happy, if you can't log in all the day? and if you have logged in, and your friend can't?

 

and i agree with you, from player's perspective. after 3 or 4 months even 1 server won't be completely full, but if :

you were publisher/admin of this server and you received let's say 10 euros subscription from about 15k players (which is realistic figure). maximum capacity of server is in 6-7k area (even that is pushing it's limits, repeated numerous times by innova ru staff, so please no reference on private crappy fake numbers). how would you keep the rage of other almost 10k players that are willing to play the lineage and they paid for it and they can't log for entire day(s) other than opening additional server to keep them shut.

i know that out of 15-20k players (guesstimate) that will buy account for first month, around 40% will extend their subscription in the next months and later even less, but how would you deal with it in first month or two?

 

as i said i highly doubt that we will have 1 full server, for a simple reason, if eu player base would be that large, servers would have been up for long time just likeru.
im not skeptical towards eu l2c, but you guys are over confident.

 

i understand that. i guess we will have to wait for preliminary results of a survey to get more accurate perspective.

 

i wouldn't worry too much about private classic servers - if we're thinking of the same server, it's opened just for money and devs really don't care too much, they'll just close it after 6 months and open a new one to cash in

however i'd like to ask - where can i vote for opening the classic server? i couldn't find the poll. thank you!

even (if iam allowed to say here)xxxxxxxx fresh start was totally fail a server which was pretty full of ppl in the past years.
xxxxxxxxxxx there you see how every server is currently losing ppl.

 

classic is worth to play only on official server, cause they can guarante that server will be online as long as there will be people willing to play.
private devs are opening new servers as often as they can earn money. even dex which provided great servers had them all closed and its great evidence, that its simple pointless to start on their classic server since it require alot of time to actually enjoy the game to its fullest. not to mention about donations that for sure will be there.

hello everyone.

i started playing lineage 2 prelude back in july 2004 on na server bartz, back then there were no eu servers. like myself, most of the old school people i played with quit for numerous reasons, the main one being the game itself. we could deal with infestation of bots in ct, toi and dvc back in c2, c3 or c4 but most of us just couldn't stand what turn the game took. and by that i mean the later updates that derailed the game from desired path, like freya and such.

with all that said, as an old school player, i welcome the idea of lineage 2 launching "again" as a classic version and the best part of it being p2p. and i don't know if this means anything to anyone but i can honestly say, there are several of us willing to come back to the game should it be available in eu.

 

thanks for the articles splicho , following any threads related to l2ceu .. lets pray we can have the little time machine to get us back in past and once more feel the joy of l2! xd
