in fact it makes some difference, the game stutters when it loads new textures and models if the hdd isn't loading it fast enough.

in the test we used a standard hightspeed hdd and a low ssd.




why no info about hdd specific and ssd and pc ? wtf
i don't talking about slow in-game loading after teleport or something. we was staying like 5min in one spot, then started to fight 7vs7 and was lagging like hell 10-15fps

 

go watch russian god fraps.
they play god in full details while frapsing and still have high fps.

i don't think they all have magical nasa pcs optimized to play l2. we will hopefully get the same performance.


edit: guy above me: trust us, classic hds are very very very bad compared to ssds.
even using esata sticks (i.e. http://www.ocztechnology.com/ocz-throttle-esata-flash-drive-eol.html , hope i'm not getting kicked for advertising or sth)
you will have much shorter loading times and smoother load-on-the-fly like player shops etc.

i'm running 140gb raptors as regular hds and the difference to the later added corsair ssd is still noticeable without having to whip out a stopwatch.

 

yup there is a difference if you use ssd vs hdd
not to mention the fact that on hdd there is also the fragmetation issue

i'm not talking about loading times and load on the fly players or shops!!
i'm talking about already loaded spots.
my friend on samsung r-590 had 30fps and i had 10-15 fps. tell me why?!
i know ssd is much faster, but i have one of the fasters 500gb disc ever. average read is ~120mb/s and ssd with same sata have about ~250mb/s, sata3 got ~500 mb/s.
i'm not comparing to ssd's but to normal laptop, who have much much less power than mine.
1. mine cpu have 4x 3,0ghz and his laptop have 2x 2,23ghz ( l2 is using one core blablablabla, ok but mine have about 600mhz more) average usage 25% cpu
2. mine gpu 6850 his some mobile ofc. ( i can play bf3 high dx11, he had a lot of problems at dx10 low) average usage 30% gpu
3. ram my have more mhz than his (l2 was just using 1,2gb while i was playing. so there was about 1,5gb more free space)
4. i did format yesterday and my every driver is up to date.

 

i have a ssd and high fps on both ncsoft and inova server.
i have an optical fiber with very low ping on all my games (5-15) but i have lags on ncsoft server (0.5s between clic and movement). i don't on inova.
i did my choice.

i also tried to instal l2 on my ssd and on my samsung spintpoint.... even on loaded zone there is a difference.

 

to be honest there is a big difference using ncwest client vs innova on same pc same settings so cut the ssd ****, most of ppl here are talking about a normal game play with 25-30 fps not about fancy speeds, lest see tomorrow hoping smth changes

 

does his laptop use a nvidia chip?

first of all your athlon is an oc version of 620 that means that it still is a pretty $%$#%$3 up cpu
you have a disk that isnt doing 120mb/s from him to the system but from the buffer of your hdd to the system .......
try to set affinity in l2 to run in the number 1 physical core
what has bf3 something to do with l2?

 

i friend told me he played god ru with normal hd as fast as non god (in ncwest) with ssd. i suppose they have optimized a little the game with god, and i suppose we will see it tomorrow on live server .

 

yeah because l2 isnt really a factor for frying up a gpu

 

we are not talking about pure benchmark of fps on a model entirely loaded into ram
l2 load a lot of thing on the fly from dd to ram, even if you are on a field already loaded and some ppl come. (it loads every spells effects, shaders, textures, shaders etc.)
