Deleted character's name is "taken"

dear admins

i recently bumped into a problem with using the same name twice on one server (core). after deleting one character from my account i tried to create it again but the game stated that the name has already been taken. i guess it should not be, as the previous char has already disappeared from the list. noone else has taken the name, i checked that by trying to send the mail to that name in game (the result was that there is no character under that nick). is this a global thing or did it appear just in my case? is this a bug or maybe for some reason the server cannot allow the same name to be used twice?

it would be really great if something could be done about that. i'm kind of attached to my nickname and would love to be able to use it again ^^'
