    Introduction

I'm NeoTiger, playing on Core server since day 2 because I couldn't enter on the first day. Some of players may know me in the game under the name of Chuna. Even without telling who I was in the game, people would still find me.

I once said when I will have the time, I'm going to publish some guides for people. I'm sharing you my experience on Core about the Sigel Knight and mostly the two most defensive tanks in this game: Phoenix Knight and Eva Templar. I'm not going to cover every aspect in this guide. Also, my experience is too poor about the Hell Knight and the Shillien Templar so they won't be covered.

As you may know, brother Palkah made a guide about Eva Templar but it has become outdated. There are still some relevant information.

    Getting started

The Sigel Knight itself is a tank and a support class: His role is to substain damage from foes, protect his party, taunt/distract enemies or be a nuisance to them. It's not here to kill or deal damage. Since several past update, it's not anymore a frontliner class and most of debuff are not landing well especially stun or pull. Moreover, some damage dealer class (the almighty Titan) could destroy you like a butter.

I suppose you are a player who wants some in-depth knownledge and you are above level 105 on his Sigel Knight.

    Common skills

I'm not going to cover all skills. Just read the skill description in the game and you will find out information.

    Shield Boomerang:
    • A ranged single target skill used to aggro a target
    • PVE: You use it
    • PVP: It makes an enemy to target you instead of party/clan member. Also in PVP, it applies an extra slow debuff but the debuff itself is mostly useless
    [IMG]
    Chain Strike:
    • A ranged single target skill to pull a target closer to you
    • PVE: You use it to bring ranged target or because you are lazy to move
    • PVP: When you pulled a target, target's skill casting could be interrupted. This skill is mostly used to pull one target to your party in order to kill him, or pull a target away from your party in order to a party member. Nowaday, landing rate so bad
    [IMG]
    Shield Charge:
    • A small ranged single target skill to rush to a target and slow it
    • PVE: Nothing to add
    • PVP: It has no special use unless you want to move closer to enemy to die later
    [IMG]
    Shield Bash:
    • A melee single target skill to stun a target
    • PVE: Nothing to add
    • PVP: Stun can interrupt a target's skill casting but nowaday, landing rate so bad
    [IMG]
    Vanishing Stun:
    • A melee single target skill to silence a target and decrease attack/casting speed
    • PVE: Silence doesn't work on mob
    • PVP: Silence prevents a target to cast any skill. Nowadays, it's not possible to keep permanently a target under silence
    [IMG]
    Shield Impact:
    • A melee single target skill to knock down several targets on the front. Can make enemy to lose his target
    • PVE: Nothing to add
    • PVP: Landing rate is so bad but can make several enemies to be stunned or lose their targets
    [IMG]
    Shield Wave:
    • A non targeting skill to stun several targets around you and activate Wave Barrier for 10 seconds to increase own P.Def by +50% and reflect damage
    • PVE: Nothing to add
    • PVP: Wave Barrier doesn't work if you are under a shield skill (for example, under Raise Shield)
    Rising Smash:
    • A non targeting skill to to decrease received heal by 90% on several targets around you
    • PVE: Good against Raid boss to decrease his life regeneration. Healer has a similar skill and it's overriding it
    • PVP: Skill landing rate is good. Use it to cut heals on some targets
    [IMG]
    Chain Gust:
    • A non targeting skill to root several targets around you
    • PVE: Nothing to add
    • PVP: Skill landing rate is bad but when it lands and that the enemy has nothing to save him, he will be dead
    [IMG]
    Superior Aggression Aura:
    • A non targeting skill to aggro several targets around you
    • PVE: There is a limit of 15 mobs who could be aggro at the same time
    • PVP: Skill landing rate is fine.It makes several enemies to switch target to you
    [IMG]
    Supreme Defense:
    • One of your godly skill. Damage you are receiving are capped so for a level 1 skill, you will take 1000 damage maximum per hit. You use this skill in critical moment and also take note that you can die with it if you don't have enough health to cover the damage. Server delay can also kill you :(
    • There is a chance to increase temporarely the duration by few seconds when you get attacked
    • PVE: Nothing to add
    • PVP: You can use to rambo your enemies or to help recover your whole party/clan in pretty bad situation
    [IMG]
    Protection of Faith:
    • One of your godly skill. This skill is working same as Supreme Defense but for your whole party. It also increased their speed and blocks the stun from Shillien SA. Protection of Faith has like 600 range effect so if someone is too far from you, it won't receive the skill effect
    • PVE: Nothing to add
    • PVP: You can use for your party to rambo your enemies or protect them from critical action
    [IMG]

    • PVE: Nothing to add

    • A skill to increase your P.Def, reflect damage and reduce damage from normal critical attack

    Focus Shield:
    • A skill to increase your M.Def and reduce damage from magic critical attack
    • There is a chance to decrease cooldown when you get attacked
    • PVE: Few mobs do magic attack and they are mostly pack with mobs doing physical attack
    • PVP: Keep it permanently casted against any magical damage dealer only if he is alone but anyway, those not a big threats
    [IMG]
    Provoke Aura:
    • A toggle skill to increase your speed and aggro mobs around you
    • PVE: Keep it permanently to gather mobs
    • PVP: You use it to run faster mostly, not to trigger aggro which are not really landing
    [IMG]
    Superior Provoke Aura:
    • Obtainable at level 110 in exchange of Enhanced Rune Stone, it's an improved version of Provoke Aura
    • Luxury skill, you can live long without learning it
    • PVE: If you have already debuffer in your party, the skill is bringing nothing more

    Two-hand Stance:
    • A skill to turn you into a semi-damage dealer. A lot of skills cannot be used under this toggle skill
    • The more Shield Defense you have, the more damage you could do. Under your tank's frenzy skill, you will deal more damage because the shield defense buff is converted into damage
    • PVE: You use it to solo killing a mob. It's better to play in a party anyway
    • PVP: You don't use it. You are a tank, not a damage dealer

How to play in PVE ?

Either you are getting asked to tank: You are standing immobile on the spot, keeping aggro of all mobs incoming to you. Then pulling/aggroing every mobs around your standing point.

Either you are getting asked to pull: You have to run from a location to another location and bring as much mobs as position to a standing point.

In both situation, you need to use Superior Aggression Aura to lure mobs on you. Activate your Tank Aura for your party so they benefit from its. Activate Aggression Aura so mobs stay on you or running after you, in order for your damage dealer to kill them.

For extreme tankiness, Frenzy skill, cubic and Raise Shield have to be casted on reuse.

How to play in PVP ?

You are just a solid support class, you don't go to the frontline because you will be demolished later by some damage dealers. Your role is cast defensive skills for your party when it's needed and used Blessed Scroll of Ressurection on your dead party members.

Sometimes, you can have the role to annoy a specific target or assisting your damage dealer. You can even have more assigned tasks if you have good survivability.

Which tank is the best ?

You care only about PVE ? Go Shillien Templar for his aura providing P.Atk to the party.

You care more about PVP ? Phoenix Knight or Eva Templar are the best.

I've playing both classes: Phoenix Knight has good P.Def and Shield, it's also fun for me to play with his unique skill set and for his cubic "I don't want to die now, you have to kill me a second time". In fact, Eva Templar is better in overall, his cubics are the best, he has the best speed from all tanks, he can tank as good as the Phoenix Knight, he has Attribute Resistance which reduces taken damage (in a different way than P.Def). Moreover, it has the most broken skill: Maelstrom.
