Yes, it is true. You can use any AI you want, but auto attack and all other good old goodies don't work here. Makes not fun anymore to play with a blob. Beside that, the exp needed for your blob is PRE-renewal, which means, that you need roughly base level 253 before your blob is 99...and no, I'm not kidding, at least not completely.
