Question about "An Arrogant Search" quest.

this afternoon i was doing the quest "an arrogant search" and i'm in the part where i have to stain with blood the item "pure white cloth" to get the "blood stained cloth".
in an guide i read that the white cloth staining is a chance on-hit with basic attacks to the platinum tribe shamans and platinum tribe prefects, but today i've been asking about this in the game and some tell me that the item is obtained when the mobs die, but others agreed with the guide and i'm not sure about this.
i was for 30 minutes (a round of buffs) hitting one platinum tribe prefect in toi 8 without weapon to hit the same mob all the time and i haven't received the "blood stained cloth". i find it very strange not having obtained the item after has been hitting the mob for 30 minutes.
can someone clear my doubts?

i think you are in the wrong floor. try 7th, you collect the required items after the mobs die.

 

i finally complete this part of the quest! :d same floor and same mob, the chance of obtain the item is with on-hit basic attacks. apparently there was no problem, just that the probability of getting the item was very low. it has taken me about 38 minutes hitting the mob without weapon.

 

i remember making a train and using aoe to kill these with my weapons, there was no issue on that, but anyway glad you managed to finish this
