Error: Black screen

hello, i'm having a problem starting the game. i hit play, the game "starts", but the login screen doesn't come up, it just turns black (or recently green/red) although i can see the cursor and hear the background music. i have updated the client, modified hosts file and removed my option.ini file but nothing seems to help. what do i do?

my laptop is kind of ****. (xp sp3, 1,9ghz, 2gb ram, ati x1250)

 

do u have installed direct? ? and actual version visual c++ ?
if u have all i think your grapshic is to low but try

edit file d:\4game\lineage2eu\system
option.ini -> find [video] and copy it tu ur file

there are options for run your game in very low graphic details,in low resolution 800x600,16 bit,and rest details on minimum quality

 

could you run dxdiag.exe and copy paste it here ?

ati cards seem to experience this problem. there is no working fix for this yet, although someone suggested removing 2 files from staticmeshes directory, which solves the black screen issue, but creates the "whiteness" problem, which could appear without screen blackness. http://boards.lineage2.com/showthread.php?t=220315
the game is playable this way (with some exceptions on talking village), but this "fix" is considered modifying the game files, which goes against regulations.
